We have recently started a new project at Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre and are excited to open this up to our clients.
We are extremely passionate about creating inclusive opportunities for our clients and ensuring that our groups are suitable for all.
With this in mind, we are working hard with external organisations to improve the accessibility of this site to ensure that this project can be enjoyed by people of all abilities.
Our allotment group provides excellent opportunities for our clients and helps to:
1. Exercise practical and interpersonal skills that are translatable to everyday life. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, time-keeping, teamwork and communication.
2. Perform outdoor tasks and activities on a weekly basis with a view to improve on physical and cognitive tolerance, such as; fatigue, coordination, flexibility, dexterity, mobility,
3. Regular use of a therapeutic, outdoor space, with a view to improve on mental wellbeing.
4. Working in collaboration with other organisations on a wider project, promoting connection and community.
5. Provide structure, routine and responsibility.
6. Be able to provide home grown produce that clients may use in other therapeutic pursuits such as; cooking and baking.
Sessions run every Thursday 1-4pm and are run by our Apprentice Occupational Therapist and keen gardener, Antonia.
